Trple Filter Test
Hi dear bloggers. Hope you doing great. Lets enjoy this test.:) ![]()
In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said,“Do you know what I just heard about your friend?”“Hold on a minute,” Socrates replied. “Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be good idea to take a moment and filter what you’re going to say. That’s why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”“Well, no,” the man said, “actually I just heard about it and…”“All right,” said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now, let’s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?”“Umm, no, on the contrary…”“So,” Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about myfriend, but you’re not certain it’s true. You may still pass the test though, because there’s one filter left—the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?”“No, not really.”“Well,” concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither true, nor good, nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?”
I really enjoyed this test.. hope you enjoy this.

Thank You for this post, it is Great! I found it to be Good, True and very Useful! As time marches on in our lives, who really has time for negative gossip about our friends, co-workers, family or even basic aquaintences. Most of us are burdened with so much to do at work and home, I really can’t deal with negative gossip and hear-say. It’s just BS.
The world is full of negative news, so why encourage it? This post is very relevant to a blog I posted a while back (here or wiki, I forget) regarding how each and every one of us should be held accountable for what we bring to the table. ie; do you walk into a room and complain about all of your own problems or do you ask everyone how they are doing?
It was from an article based on a Woman recovering from a massive stroke at age 37. She was not supposed to survive but she recognized positive comments from Doctors and family who came into the ICU. The Docs saw the difference in progress and set backs every time there was negative or positive energy in the room. Very good case study on how negativity impacts us.
I’ll try to find the link but it was a great read.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here,. If you find the link, share with.. thank you for the warm comment..:)
